BOARD OF DEACONS 2005-2006 ANNUAL REPORT

he reporting year 2005 – 2006, the Board of Deacons and its committees were again very active. Deacon committees including Member During the reporting year 2005 – 2006, the Board of Deacons and its committees were again very active. Deacon committees including Member Support, the We Care Team, Card Program, Food Shelf and Community / Emergency Services reached out to help over 135 people (church members and non-members). Responses to people in need included providing prepared meals, as well as food supplies, and financial support. In addition, approximately 140 cards were mailed to individuals experiencing illness or loss and flowers were delivered to shut-ins. Deacons were represented on the Church Nominating Committee for seeking new Deacons and Elders. The three annual Blood Drives in 2005 collected over 105 pints of useable blood. A new Hospitality Committee was recently established to work jointly with Session to address reception activities.

The Deacon’s “Super Sunday,” a monthly food drive, has been modified to support the Christian Caring Center (CCC) in conjunction with maintaining the church food shelf. Faith Church is now a sponsoring church for CCC. This partnership helps to expand the Deacon’s ability to reach the needs of more people within the framework of the CCC process. The Thanksgiving Food Drive collected 140 turkeys for the CCC and dinners for 5 local families. At Christmas the Deacons donated $1000 in support of the CCC in place of the traditional ham collection.

The Deacons provided scholarships for various youth activities and chose to be a sponsor for the T-shirt fund raiser for Great Escape. A Communion Serving Class was conducted for new Deacons. The monthly Deacon’s Diary for the Seeds of Faith is now submitted by committee rather than being the responsibility of one Deacon. The Deacons staffed an information table at the June 4, 2006 Ministry Fair.

Further Information on the Board of Deacons may be obtained by responding to the Faith Church Web page.
